Identity Proofing

Are you aware of the processes involved in identity proofing?

The process of identity proofing is one of registering the act of verification of a person identity where the person has demonstrated possession of a valid current primary government picture ID that contains their picture and either their address of record or their nationality of record – in other words, either a driver’s license or a passport.

The process is performed by a person assigned the role of Registration Authority (RA) by the organisation. The RA must be aware of the documented processes in the practice statement developed by the organisation for identity proofing.

More details can be found in the AAF Assurance Framework and the NIST Electronic Authentication Guideline – NIST SP 800-63-2 document.

Note: The 100 points of identity scheme is no longer used for Identity proofing.
